1906 AE 4" barrel 9mm
1906 AE 4" barrel 9mm.
Today at local gun show. No proofs, germany on front of frame, polished lower safety,Serial # 26xxx, ( waiting for owners permission to release serial number) Interesting serial number on barrel. Original was two numbers off, then last number re-stamped to frame and parts last number. Witness marks look good. Correct font and appears to have been blued after number change. Rest all matches ,70 %+ overall. Not for Sale. For Dwight,Ron will send full serial number when given the ok. Bill |
Serial number on above 26644. Bill. Any idea on value?

Really hard to say Bill. The serial overstamp probably is legit, but 70% isn't a lot of finish. A 9mm AE is nice to have, but not especially rare. The overall appearance (e.g. no pittting, excessive wear, etc.) goes a long way in sales appeal, a bright gun holds more value than a dull one. I am guessing $1200 and it could go up or down from there.

Thank you Ron. It may be 80%. It has been used but not abused. He doesn't want to sell it he was just curious what it was worth. How many of these were manufactured? Bill

Bill, I think You can get a feel for how many 1906's by looking at Dwights commericial database?
But I would guess without pictures and your description of $1000-$1500; market is funny right now, things that I'd think would sell for $1500, sell for $1000... Ed |
Thanks Ed Bill
