1918 Erfurt Range Report

Had my old Erfurt out to test some loads today. I rarely shoot it, but want it to function safely when I do. I'm keeping the original mags, extractor and ejector in the safe. Using Mec Gar mags and Numrich repro parts I've fitted to function.
Had great results with new RP brass and primer, 4.4 gr. Bullseye and 115gr. WW FMJ seated @ 1.169" OAL. Oehler Chronograph results: 1,022fps, 14 Standard.Deviation; empties consistently dropped on the back of my neck. Accuracy OK @ 50 yds., but I was looking for function and velocity today. No failures to feed, moderate recoil. Seems to be gentle enough on this 91 year old frame for an occasional firing. This load looks like the one!

Now my concern: I noticed an etched ring on the fired brass about 3/16 " below the mouth. Upon cleaning, I also noticed what appears to be a faint ring in the chamber in the same location. I looked at some other brass fired in this piece long ago, and they exhibit the same marking.

Also: This Luger has a "Police Sear" mounted above the trigger sear bar. The trigger pull is REALLY heavy! My hands were cold, and it was tough to squeeze off a shot smoothly as I do w/a 1911. Is this normal?

Thanks for any feedback. I visit regularly, but don't shoot this Luger enough to contribute much.
