Here is a 1914 Colt given as a shooting prize in 1915 at a Rhode Island National Guard shoot.

That is a nice and very unique Commercial 1911. I once saw a minty Commercial 1921(if I recall correctly) marked to the New York Police Dept. The owner had sent it off to one of the customizers / butchers and had it "Suped-up" (I would use a different term, but Ed would delete it) with Bo-Mar sights, beavertail grip safety, etc. We told him that he had taken a $2500.00+ pistol and turned it into an $500 shooter. He didn't seem to give a crap. Ron |

Thru the internet I have found info on John E England's service record see attachment.
Mr., A search Adjutant General Records for the period in question identified the following for a John E. England: Jan. 4, 1903, enlisted & mustered in Company E, 2nd Regiment of Infantry, Brigade Rhode Island Militia; May 18, 1906, commissioned 2nd Lieutenant; April 15, 1907, Brigade Rhode Island Militia designation changed to Rhode Island National Guard, by General Order #9; Company E, 2nd Regiment of Infantry designation changed to 13th Company, Coast Artillery Corps, by General Order #26; Jan. 18, 1911, commissioned 1st Lieutenant; May 12, 1913, passed Coast Artillery basic course examination & range & communication officers course; Nov. 11, 1914, commissioned Captain; Sept. 7, 1915, won pistol championship match; score of 109; July 25, 1917, called into Federal service; Aug. 5, 1917, discharged & drafted into service of the United States & discharged from the State militia by act of Congress of June 3, 1916; placed on retired list of commissioned officers of the Rhode Island National Guard to date from Aug. 5, 1917, with rank of Major by General Order #6, March 2, 1920 - end of record. Searching other sources I find a John Edward England, age 23, of Central Falls, employed as a Moulder, born England, son of Daniel & Maria marrying Elizabeth Estelle Grundy, age 21, of Pawtucket, born Central Falls, RI, daughter of Thomas & Maria on Aug. 22, 1905, by Edward F. Carrigan, Roman Catholic Priest. Note: no record of death located for this individual per statewide search through 1958 (last year available at our office). However, I do find a record for the wife dying in Central Falls on July 25, 1934, age 49. She is noted as the divorced wife of John England. Searching Central Falls / Pawtucket directories I find the last reference occurring for John England in 1915. After that date wife listed only. Couple must have split up on or/about this time period.
