From the crappy photos, my guess is that Howard Barnett was AKA Pedro Flores late of Juarez.

Both examples look like Mexican Bordertown engraving from the 1950s. The result being two ruined collectable pistols.

BBQ cab be aftermarket but that is just ugly. I deal mostly with S&W and colts and have seen some very nice Class A engraved guns from Smith but I'm not a big BBQ fan and don't really have any safe queens, they are all subject to pull a day at the range waging war on defenseless paper targets. :) That gun is so ugly you would have to shoot it with a paper bag on it.

I has a bad habit -- snake skin always inspires me goosebumps.... by looking at those creatures I am very uncomfortable. But whenever I visit a pet store, I cannot control myself not looking for it.... "where is it?" The feeling was like watching a thriller movie. Unexplainable.

I appreciate fine engraving as much as anyone, provided that it is tastefully done and doesn't diminish the value or utility of the gun.

However in the case of these two pistols, they're a bit too "pimped out" to suit my tastes.....

Here's a better picture of the "broom handle" that I took off Barnett's website (which also notes that this is a Chinese Mauser). yuk.......
