Luger Pics & Some of The Story

Ok, here are some pics of my Dads luger. I'm no photographer just a point and click guy. They didn't come out that great but y'all can see what they are.

I talked to him today about the capture. He remembered quite a bit about "crossing the Saar near Ayl in overloaded boats, (the fast currrent, swollen river, cold water, the steep banks of the river ) pontoon bridges and boats, the night route thru open fields towards Ockfen and the woods surrounding the area. By that time, some of German units were composed of lots of kids and old guys including officers called in as last resort. Sometimes we rifle companies were leap frogging each other.

Lots of German artillery was the horse drawn type, and would see dead and wounded horses sometime. Came up on an overturned half track and a horse drawn artillery piece. Surprised the Germans, nabbed the Major and four other german troops. My dad took his weapon and a pair of leather gloves so soft you could ball them up in your hands" .

He remembered quite well how th rifle companies were leapfrogging each other , the 301st and the 376th. He also sent a few mausers back home after the war. But they're long gone by the time I arrived into this world. ...........................

Herr Cuda, Yer a lucky man! Great story and a fine looking Luger. Do the magazine numbers match the pistol?
Shake your Father's hand and thank him for his service for me...
