value on a 1940 42 code P08
Gents:
A fellow just sent me pictures of a vet. bring-back, a very nice but average 42 code 1940 model, with good holster and apparently matching except clip. Some bullet damage to the base of the barrel/front of the receiver. Now without pictures and details I understand that no one will go out on a limb regarding value, so my question is this: All else being equal, does the serial number of 3 (a?) significantly help its value? Thanks; DJU |
no
& yes some folks like single digit guns, I have a 3 digit and thats kinda cool, but in reality, yours is 10003 (3a) Ed |
Ed:
So if all parts are marked simply "3" there is no appreciable bump in value? Thanks; DJU |
no, everything depends on what the front suffix is of the luger (or no suffix).
Yes, some folks might pay more, but we aren't talking a large bump in value. Odd variations of proofs or acceptance gets most folks more excited IMHO. Ed |
Thanks Ed.
