Hi, folks:

New to the forum and happy to be here. Quick question: how many use Lugers (either full size or baby) for CCW, and what sort of rig do you use to carry? Thanks!

I honestly can't imagine that anyone would, there are so many better choices of modern, carry-worthy pieces.

That and the fact that if you did use one to defend yourself you might loose it for quite some time during the "investigation".

I have a S&W 36 and a PPK on my CCW.....

I have given thought to CCW with a baby Luger in a shoulder holster. However, I prefer my Sig P226SCT on my hip for CCW or Open Carry.

Not only could you loose you pistole, the police could loose your pistole. It happens too many times.

Carry a firearm that can be easily replaced. Not something that is a C&R. No matter how cool it can be to carry one as your carry pistole. I would love to carry mine too, but I don't.

Besides the fact that modern firearms are infinetily more reliable than a Luger, consider ALL the ramifications of carrying a Luger
- Limited ammo capacity
- Vulnerable to dust and debris
- Prone to jam if fired from inside a coat or pocket
- Slow to remove the safety. Dangerous to carry off safe

Not to mention that the attorneys who either attempt to prosecute or sue you, (you WILL be exposed to one or the other of these scenarios if you use your gun to defend yourself) will look for any hook to hang you on.
The Luger will become a NAZI weapon that only a hateful neo Nazi would carry. Forget that you might be carrying an imperial Luger or even a post war Mauser.
In short, give the inevitable suit or prosecution as little as possible to hang you with;
Don't modify or lighten triggers
Don't disable any safety features on the gun
Don't use hand-loaded or non-commercial ammunition
Don't have any macho gun-culture mottos or sayings on you or your gear, (T-shirts with Kill 'em all, let God sort them out!) etc.
There is a list a mile long of advise for making the best case for yourself should you end up using a firearm for defence. Carrying a Luger is not one of them

YES SIR alanint, I agree with what you said. I think we should keep C&Rs just that.
