Needing bluing ser/checkering services
Does anyone have recomendations for bluing services? I'm not needing a $1000, 18 month restoration, but someone that I can send a shooter for either rust or salt hot bluing services. Cost and turn-around time wins this one. Also I may need some grips re-checkered. Wasn't there a fellow on the list that offers these services?
Thanks; DJU |
I can salt blue, but would need a few pictures first, can also tig weld if you have some real pitting problems, normal turn around in my shop for something like this is 30 days...can also provide strawing if need be

re-checkering equals Hugh Clark.......Look no further.

:thumbsup:Checkering, stain & oil finish is $65 PP, if you need a repair that is $20 extra. Present turnaround is 4 weeks, maybe sooner.
Send them and a check to: Hugh Clark Box 598 Devers, Tx 77538 |
Thanks Gent's. Anyone do rust bluing?
|
If professional quality is not required, you can DIY rust blue at home. I did it myself. The end result is not pretty, but it's black. It kept me busy for a few days, lots of fun though.

Rust Blue
The best Rust Blue and turn around time out there that I know of
is Danner, Charles marylou.danner@mchsi.com And his price is wright and fair. His phone # is 1-(931)-433-3276.Tell him George Fortier sent you and he may give you a deal.Hope this helps you. Thanks George:) |
Hi David,
Thor has replied to your posting with no mention of the refinishing services he provides. After seeing pictures on this forum of his work I would certainly contact him for an estimate. He did a C-96 at one point that was exceptional. Greg B. |
Thor's turnaround time is very long and his cost is very high.
Thanks George P.S. Try Charles Danner |

Charles Danner has been in the restoration work for over 40years and did just about all of
John Martz Luger restoration over the last 40years and also does museum quality work as that is all John Martz is willing to accept. Thanks,it's all up to you. |
Thanks it would help me if you could give me the correct
spelling. Thanks again George P.S.I also forgot to metion that Charles Danner will send your gun back to you without sending back to you through a FFL dealer like Thor wants to do so if you send it to Danner you will be saved the added cost of it being sent to your FFL Dealer. Thanks again George |

Here is a photo of some of Thor's work (2002)...I acquired the Luger from Hugh Clark about three years ago.

Oh, well...I guess I can live with Parkerized Lugers, Nambus, Lahtis, and M1911's... :D

Here's another bluing/plating/Parkerizing service recommended by IthacaDave -
GunBlack, in Interlaken NY http://www.gunblack.com/ GunBlack, Inc. PO Box 357 8386 Main Street Interlaken, NY 14847 Telephone: 607 532 9591 weekdays 7:30 to 4pm EST Fax: 607 532 9257 E-mail: info@gunblack.com I'm currently pulling my maps out to see just how many miles @ 15mpg and ~$4/gallon it would cost me to drive there & back, twice... Edit; I cancelled that trip. It would cost more than the $130 shipping + FFL fees. :( |
