My Favorite...
I've seen a lot of Lugers over the last 30, actually 50 + years.... and I still cannot ignore the artistic, and asthetic beauty of the original 1900 Luger.... I have had one before, and I don't now.. and I regret it still! it Is a true functional art form...made by master craftsmen, never to be repeated... never, ever, has "form follows function" been better represented... Those guys were so talented, it is hard to fathom.... Best to all, til...lat'r...GT:jumper:

1900 ....
Hi Rick! You and I, have always shared the same Luger pashions (sp.?) We were just born 100 years to late to make it so! Best to all, til...lat'r...GT:jumper:

You guys think you have problems...Ha! I have had the appreciation and addiction far longer than you, I agree, they are the most elegant firearm conceived. I have a half-dozen and would love to have more. Lust is a terrible thing, but I am somewhat consoled that it is born out of a sincere admiration of the form follows function design of these classic weapons. Thank you G.T. for bringing up the 1900 Luger topic; let's see if there are more kindred spirits.

I have to agree.... Marc |
They don't get any better looking than that.
Glad nobody has thought up any recent "tactical Accessories." |
I have 3 "Wish I Had 10" Right on GT

I would fall asleep each night with a smile on my face knowing there is a Luger like that in my collection ;)
But the biggest carrot for me is still a minty Luger carbine with all the goodies. |
I am still shopping for a 1900. Although I despair of ever finding one I can afford.

oh, they come up. I have two, both "within the range" of the Test Lugers (6100-7100) but not listed in Bannerman. I sold 3 or 4 last year....
I think I paid $2400 or $2600 for the 2nd one (it is nicer). Not sure If I need two (right now) I am giving a presentation tonight at the NJ Gun collectors Association and thought I had one of my 1900 pictures, I don't, sorry, so here is one I used to own ;) This is 4949, I traded it for a Trommel magazine and some cash; wish I still had it. ed |
Add me to the "addicted" list!

It's definitely an elegant variation. The only thing that I feel it could have been done even better -- the grip safety. The thin sheet steel grip safety gives a "very simplified" or "tried to reduce cost" feeling..... it's not an economic gun, not sure how much the factory could save on that. It would be better if G. Luger had put a Browning style "solid" grip safety on it.
Otherwise, it's perfect. |
Very inspiring thread. I am fortunate to have two test eagles; both on the Bannerman list. You can be assured they have a prominent position in my safe.
