cdg 44 Auvaerter Und Bubeck

I purchased a 98.9% Mauser 1939 42 Luger yesterday. Luger is excellent, yet has two non matching magazines. The pictures I took did not turn out very well so I will take a few more at the gun show today.

What I found very interesting was the holster. It is a Luger holster and appears to have carried a P38 in it for some time as one can see the outline of the slide in the front of the holster.

The holster is marked WaA101, I believe cdg 44 (Auvaerter Und Bubeck)

I have never seen a Luger holster dated 44. All information would be much appreciated.

Regards,

George

1944 dated Luger holsters are extreamly rare, if they actually exist. Krieghoff made Lugers for the Luftwaffe into 1945 and there must have been holster provided for them.

It is not uncommon to find "bring back" P-08 pistols in P-38 holsters or P-38s in P-08 holsters. Yours is a P-38 holster.

Joe:

Many thanks for your response. As mentioned, I believe a p38 was carried in this holster, however I believe it is a Luger holster that was made very late war.

Not sure why you would refer to it as a p38 holster, please explain!

George

George, Nice late holster! It is without doubt a Luger holster. 1944 Lugers are not unheard of but certainly not common.

Jerry:

I was very surprised when I inspected this holster as I have never seen one dated 1944 before.

I guess it does pay to get to the Gun Shows early! I will do so from now on.

George

Thanks. I got a brain cramp and forgot to post the pictures, sorry.

The holster is very interesting to say the least.
