I received this letter from our County Sheriff yesterday, as did all Lane County concealed carry licensees. I am licensed to carry any hand gun of my choice concealed, anywhere in the State of Oregon.

We have an anti-gun group called "Cease Fire Oregon." This sounds like something from their agenda. Most of this crap comes from Multnomah County (Portland area)or Jackson County, down south(elitist California Liberal transplants). They like to dictate to the rest of the state.

Fortunately we have Pro-gun law enforcement, here in the "Knuckle Dragging" part of the state.

Ron, A better idea is to publish a list of people who have NO firearms. Then the criminals could go visit them.
Get used to these types of attacks...Liberals believe they are holding an ace high flush with the election of oblama and want the pot.

Why don't you simply post a sign in front of your house saying"Nothing in this house is worth your life. Caution: Owner is armed and will employ lethal force against intruders".

That should deter prowlers as well as putting neighbors and the local gun-fearing wussies on notice.

Also sounds like an ACLU issue, thye can be used for gun owners also, as this is an infrignment of your rights!

Information disclosure
 

Like any other personal information that is gathered, in this case it seems sensible to require demonstration that the requestor has 1) a need to know 2) demonstratable method in place to protect the privacy of the persons whose information is being gathered 3) names and specific identification of any and all persons and entities that would have access to information gathered 4) specific recourse for any abuse of information gathered, shared, lost or abused 5) demonstrable method in place to allow " opting out" of information sharing 6) method in place for correcting mistakes 7) records available to everyone who asks..of who asked for the information 8) automatic notice of disclosure on each and every instance of disclosure to the person whose information has been requested or disclosed. 9) names of each and every person or entity that voted for or in any way mandated disclosure of private information of citizens and personal property they own 10) public lists of any agency or entity that maintains records on personal property that has been licensed by a private individual or entity 11) automatic end date beyond which the information may no longer be deemed to be acurate, thus, no longer eligible for disclosure 12) proof that any information disclosed is not transmitted to anyone not adhering to all of the previous requirements, and that all documentation of above requirements is in place before disclosure. 13) specific time allowance for correction of information or contesting validity of request, along with specifc recourse action allowable against nuisance requests or harrassement requests before disclosure is made 14) penalties for abuses listed above, and courses of action for gaining redress 15) specific legislated rights of privacy defined in all documents referred to above 16) administrative fee schedule for any public agency that provides information above, to cover the cost of the search and record keeping of due diligence requirements.......

So much like the credit bureau system, this could be a user based system designed to monitor access to information, as well as allow for accuracy, and allows "freezing of information" at will.

They tried to pull off this trick over here as well. Several reporters tried to get lists of permit holders from the police using some vague 'freedom of information' excuse. Some districts even supplied the info, others wisely denied or disguished the info so that only relatively harmless statistics were left.

What these people tend to forget is that they actually endanger the lives of other folks who did nothing wrong in the first place....Now that's criminal...

Nothing like advertising you have handguns at your residence. Hard to understand what goes on in those pea brains. Sounds more like they want to raise awarness to your neigbors that you have them in the hopes they will raise a stink and march against the evil doers with conceled weapons in the hope of shutting down any further permits for CCW.

I don't know your Sheriff, but I would suggest you get on board with his re-election campaign.
If more Sheriff's where like him, we wouldn't have some of these pea-brain ideas coming from the Liberal press.

I don't think we need to get "used to it" because as soon as we get used to it, and it becomes routine, we get lackadaisical about the issues and the anti-gun people make another foothold to undermine our rights.
