hold open
Dear experts
Does anyone know the name of the small metal strip (spring?) that attaches to the end of the hold open, and can you steer me to someone selling one? Thanks, jeff |

yes, check with Tom Heller, if he doesn't have any, I have 5 or 10 of them at home. ed |
I just got one from Tom. He was great...I must have been a dunce.
Hear my sad story before you attempt the installation. Just today I got the spring and had no trouble fitting it into the hold-open. Then I tried to install the unit into the frame and snapped the little sucker off! Is there a trick to getting the springged hold-open into its slot??? Ed, you're almost a neighbor (Phoenixville). You going to the VF show this weekend? |
I had the same result for the same reason! Even more odd, since I have not had that problem in the past. How should it be done?
Thanks, Jeff |

The tip of the spring is inserted into the WIDE part of the slot where it goes, and then as you press down gently on the spring while holding the holdopen just above its seat in the frame, slide the spring and holdopen forward (toward the muzzle) until it is fully seated... then you can let go and the holdopen drops into its seat...

Thank you!

I met Ed this AM, a true gentleman!
He showed me how the unit fits it. It literally drops in, as stated above, as soon as you get the spirng tip into its recess. I was incorrectly trying to get the HO hook under the pin. Don't do that! Ed, thanks again. Nice dogs. |
