my uncles luger
 

when myself and older brother were about 12 [i think ]we used to behave when we went to my uncles because he would let us look at his luger, he was working on the railways as a drivers helper and they used to stop the train in the middle of the forth rail bridge and help to throw piles and piles of captured weapons into the sea , the luger fell onto the tracks and the armed guards didnt see him put it into his coat, but i remember two things,firstly the barrell was cut in halfand the magazine spring was covered in really thick white grease . lost touch years ago but that was my first encounter with a luger . cheers

Interesting story Berbwerk. A lot of captured wheapons here in Europe has been melted down or tossed into the sea.. Was this from a bridge you say? Could be an interesting place to dive;)
My first encounter with a Luger was one that my grandmother found. It was hidden at their farm and eventually lost over the years. Today I own that small farm, and this summer I had the main house demolished as it was getting quite rotten. No luger was found amoung the debree.. Closest I got was to find a package of bullet's wraped into a 1946 dated household magazine :rolleyes:

hard luck steinar about your luger also, yes it was the large rail bridge between edinburgh and fife , had scuba dived for about ten years [before i got back into fast motorbikes ] but there is a royal navy submarine base about 2 mls from the bridge so no go [ actually i did dive it later but was chaperoned by royal navy divers [looking for lost specialist drill that went overboard from bridge repairs ] dont remember him saying which theatre of war they were from but could have been from over your way ?. cheers

I have been into diving myself for a period, mostly just free diving. Still it's great fun!
I think you should give it a second try ;)

Don't think the weapons came out of Norway, we had most of it re-issued to our military.
