Rust Removal Product
Has anyone used a product called "Evapo-Rust?" I have used it on some old S&Ws I was restoring and it works very well, has basically no smell and it is non-toxic. Auto-Zone sells it and clean up is a snap. I have also used it in badly rusted rifle bores with very good results. The nice thing is it can be used over and over again too.

Evapo-Rust removes bluing?
Excerpted form the Question/Answer section of a site (http://www.nicks.ca/evap-2.html) about Evapo-Rust.....
"Q)Will EVAPO-RUST â?¢ remove bluing and other oxide finishes? Yes. EVAPO-RUSTâ?¢ will remove these in about 30 minutes. Anodizing will not be removed. Powder coating and paint will not be removed as long as the paints do not contain oxides." |
True, like many products made to remove rust it will remove bluing too, but I like that the stuff is safe to use and is simple to dispose of. The results I have gotten were spectacular.

Safe to use and is simple to dispose of, are indeed handy traits to have, in ANY chemical cleaning product....:)

Bobcam1: I was surprised at how mild the stuff is and that diswashing soap seems more harsh by comparision.
