S/42 Luger 1938

Hello All,

I am a new member from Georgia (the state).

I am going to be looking for a nice WWII-era Luger for my collection. Right now, I have a S/42 Luger made in 1938. It is a "shooter". Finish is about 70%, WWII-era magazine, and decent bore. The frame and frame components all match but are a different serial number than the slide, toggle, bolt, and recoil spring.

Unfortunately, I have to free up some capital before investing a better Luger. Could anyone help me with an earnest appraisal?

Thanks for the help

Adrian

Can you confirm if the grips are the after-market Indian made repros?

This would factor into any valuation.

Yes...they are repro grips that I bought from SARCO. I do have the "original" black plastic grips. The black grips appear to be WWII-era (?).

Thanks,

Adrian

Alanint,

I also have a magazine for the pistol that is a silver rolled-metal magazine w/ aluminum base. The base has "42" and a four digit serial number on it. This may be WWII-era or earlier.

Adrian,

Please post a clear focus close up photo of both sides of the original grips. If they are original WW2 production, they are worth at least $200 or more in todays collector market.

Hello John,

Sorry for the delay I have been traveling.

I am posting some pictures of the black Luger grips for your review. If these are authentic, I would be interested in selling these. Also, I have attached some pics of the magazine that came with the pistol.

Is it an original Luger magazine?

Thank you for your help.

All the best,

Adrian Britt

Hi John,

I forgot to mention that the grips had no markings of any kind on the back.

The magazine base is aluminum and is marked "42" and then with a 4-digit serial number.

Thanks,

Adrian Britt
