Need help with photo
 
I'd like any info you can give on this photo, especially as to the practicality of the chain.

I guess that the chain would at least deflect any small bits of shrapnel while not completely obscuring your vision of the battle in progress...

I think some of the early tankers had something similar to this to protect from "spalling," bits of metal beaking loose from impacts outside the tank.

In WWI airmen, auto drivers, teamsters and cavalry wore goggles...why not tankers? I was a tanker and we used goggles but certainly nothing that would block our vision.
