2 Attachment(s)
Hi there,
just picked up two new artillery: 1917 DWM unit marked and 1917/1920 DWM. This is my small artillery collection. From the top: 1914 Erfurt 1917 DWM both sight fine tuned 1917 DWM rear sight only 1917 DWM no sight fine tune 1917/1920 DWM rear sight only Ciao Alberto |
May we see the unit mark and detailed photos of the LP08?

Alberto, there are parts of the unit mark thaat I acn not read. What exactly is the unit mark? Can you write it out for us?
Thanks. |
George,
I fooled around with the image and came up with something that doesn't make a lot of sense...perhaps you can point us in the right direction. It looks like - 1.B.23/r. - to me, |
It's an odd one, perhaps Reichswehr.
|
Could it be 1.B.234. ?
The 4 may be poorly struck. |
I think Geo is correct. It's an early Reichswehr mark. 1st Battery 23rd Artillery Regt./reitende abteilung. A mounted messenger for an Artillery unit. A very neat unit mark...

Difficult to say.
It could be 234 or 23/r. Attached more pics with the detail of the number. Alberto |
With this clarification my thought is First Bavarian Infantry Regiment, weapon 234. I may be way off but the mark is not according to any German army directives Imperial or Weimar.
|
An odd marking. I was really hoping that it was /r. Reitende markings are rare.
