1939 Captured Luger

I just purchased my first Luger. 1939. Its all matching numbers (67, with an X on the trigger gaurd). It come complete with 1945 declaration of enemy capture, 1946 Declaration paperwork, holster, takedown tool, and magazine. This was captured by a War Correspondant. I purchased it from a friend of mine who was a friend of the widow of the Correspondent.

I have been doing some research on line and am stumped by one thing. The numbers stamped under the proof marks of 655. I was told that the proof marks clearly define it as a military mauser but when it speaks of the proof marks it does not mention what the number means.

This is on the breechblock. The proof mark to the far right is also on the right side of the barrel.

However this is on the left side of the barrel. It looks like a 65 under it.

I would really like to know a little more about what I have.

Thanks

Mac
