1902 Luger Carbine Stock

I am new to this forum and have been looking at a decent carbine at a decent price. The only thing that bothers me about the gun, is that the stock is unnumbered. I have compared it to another stock that I know is right and the unnumbered one is exactly the same. Is it normal for a stock to be unnumbered? Gun is in the 24000 seial # range.
Thanks

sdjg;

I am surprised you have not received any answers to your question. I am not sure which gun you are commenting about but it is my understanding that not all of the original stocks were numbered. I sold a carbine a year or two ago that had an un-numbered, and I think original, stock with it. Look at the pattern of the checkering, and that the gun has a horn butt plate. Steel wasn't used on the butt plates until the 20's, the checkering also changed from era to era. If you want send me a PM with your e-mail and I will send you the pictures I have of the stock on the carbine I sold, you can use them for comparison if you like.

Thanks,
Bob M.
