29/70 bluing

Hello folks,
Question about the finish on my Mauser parabellum. I was under the impression that rust bluing was not used on the pistols. Perhaps I am confused, but when held in the direct sunlight, the bluing appears to be a reddish/brown. Is this salt blue or what? Thanks to all for input.

Yep, it's a salt dip blue that Mauser used during those days.

Rust blueing is way too labour intensive and therefore too expensive.

Hello Gerben,

Thanks for the information. Never realized that Salt blue would have that rust/brown tinge. You folks on this board are the greatest.

Best to all,
Pitsword
