Note that the good ole Associated (Peoples) Press is up to their usual tricks. There was no gun show. It did not happen at a gun show. It was at a private affair in a private venue.

Its just an awful accident and to play up on it, is sad and wrong by the media....

The link has a place to submit errors for correction of articles. I sent them (the Star) a scathing report on the LIE in their headline. All who read it should do the same. This tragic incident had nothing to do with gun shows...

May God bring comfort to the family of the poor child, and all who were involved with this accident.

Forgiveness does not mitigate consequence however...This could have been prevented. The magazine probably contained more than just a couple of rounds... they should have predicted the potential for a loss of control by an inexperienced boy of 8 years... this child died from adult negligence... The instructor should be stripped of his credentials, and face whatever consequence that is provided for in the law.

I shot the first gun when I was 5 (or 6) years old. A super heavy Tokarev. Lucky it's semi-auto. Otherwise, I might not be able to post today.

The family of the child and all involved need our prayers, including the one who was supervising the child. A terrible tragedy.

As we don't have any 'full auto-shooting events' like that here in Europe, it caused a lot if interest.. The tragedy made it to most mayor news papers. ( like this article http://www.dagbladet.no/nyheter/2008/10/27/551790.html ).

I almost attended that shoot. It was a type of field day / machine gun shoot. The public was invited to try out different machine guns and other firearms. Truly a shame and a black eye for the machine gun fraternity. Prayers go out to the family. A Micro Uzi in the hands of an 8 year old without extremely strict supervision is very hazardous at best. The coach should have had his hand above the weapon in case a problem arose.
