10e.
The Bulgarian contract, around 1912/13, was for 10,000 Lugers, in two lots. Serial numbers 1 thru 5000 and 1C thru 5000c. They were ordered without stock lugs. Scarce Luger in the US. Regards Ken D |
Interarms imported most of these in the 1960s. Some were sold with the Bulgarian crest on the toggle intact, others had the crest remove to obscure the fact that the guns came from a (then) communist country.
A small number (about 1000 - 2000) were sold to Erma in Germany, who renovated them and sold them onto the European market. Hard to judge from the photos, but this may actually be one of those Erma reworks. |
I agree with the above. The same cyrilic safety word was also used on the M1906 Russian model, but above the safety lever, since I had a grip safety. TH

Any marking on the side of the extractor?

You should post a few more pics of this Bulgarian and we would be about to give you more info about it. Plus many of us would like to see more of it !
These are not found very often Jim |
sorry to have post it in the commercial forum if a moderator can change it to the good place
this Luger is not my ...for the moment .... the pics are not very good sorry http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload..._cot_droit.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload...cot_gauche.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload...c_chargeur.jpg http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload...c_chargeur.jpg best regards |
The photographs are blurred but the shine and the fireblued grip screws screem "reblue". Sad, but still a rare luger.

As written on the frame, exposed ОГЪНЪ indicates the safety lever position for FIRE in Bulgarian spelling; the Russian spelling ОГОНЬ was not used on Lugers. In a related matter, the extractor logo ЗАРЯДЪ indicates the presence of a CHARGE. The modernized Russian spelling has omitted the final hard sign Ъ since 1918. You may consult Wikipedia pages that explain the roles of the hard and soft sign in Cyrillic alphabets. This Virtual Cyrillic keyboard may be used for convenient data entry.
