Help me identify this barrel marking

This should be an easy one for you guys. My luger is a '42' 1940. Just noticed that on the bottom of the barrel, under the four digit serial number there is a three digit number marked "8,82". I assume it's like a unit number or something from the war, but would like to know for sure. The more history I can find out about my gun the better. Thanks!

Yup, that's easy. The number is the diameter of the bore across the barrel lands in millimeters. Glad to help! :)

Of course Frank is right... and Your barrel is well within manufacturing specifications, and not oversize.

... How do I know? The barrel blueprints specifies the "standard" as 8.85mm and 8.83mm falls withing the tolerance for that measurement.

This is another shameless plug for the Luger Blueprint CD which is available for purchase in the FOR SALE forum. Until the 30th of this month it is being discounted to only $20.00 (regular price is $25.00) for purchase within the USA. See the For Sale forum for more details.

Here is a sample portion of the barrel blueprint showing standard 9mm bore dimensions:

You can also check out the FAq (I know there are 2 of them on the forum, I can't seem to get rid of the OLD one), that has basic info like this on it;

Ed, send me both links to the FAQs in an email and I will try to consolidate them this weekend.
