M1 Garand Handgaurds

Any Garand pro's out there to help me? Where can i get some decent front and rear handgaurds in a bare condition, to oilrub myself, or does anybody out there make them to suit your color stock. I've got a brand spankers dark walnut stock, but having trouble finding a decent set (yes i'm very picky :p) and the only original matching ones i can find are shabby condition with dents and knicks

Went you can still find Garand stock parts on Ebay... some new, some old... and occasionally the parts that are prohibited, but craftily list by sellers who use poor descriptions to avoid the ebay censors... The photos tell the true story on what is for sale. Just do a search for Garand.

Hey John, yeah there sure is some good stuff on there, i've bought heaps but had gotten disheartened after looking so long for some decent handgaurds and stopped searching. Your post just sparked up a search and i'm currently watching a set that are damned near identical to my forewood's color. Thanks heaps mate :D
By the way, it seems alot more of the rifle stuff goes unremoved, doesnt it? Where as alot of prohibited pistol stuff gets taken down quicksmart

I agree with your last comment Went... I think the ebay censors/police have become a little more handgun savvy and are still pretty rifle ignorant. It is all in the wording of the description about whether or not they find the stuff.

I have seen countless M1 Garand rifle bolts listed as "followers" but have the correct photo... The censors don't have a clue what they are looking at... so they don't find them, even when they look at the photos. I have also seen operating rods identified as "op rods" so once again, they can't see the forest for the trees because they don't know the terminology or the small portion of the item that is shown in the photo will only make sense to an M1 afficionado... pretty clever of the sellers in my opinion. I think a lot of sellers are not hosting their photos on ebay either... they host them elsewhere and take them down as soon as the auction is over.

Unfortunately, about the only things on pistols that are not on the removal list are sights, stocks, and screws.

Yep you are certainly not wrong, i'm building a functioning, but deac one up, just for display purposes, (which i'm actually having an absolute ball building and researching, great project) and have gotten EVERY single part, about 46/48, bar a receiver and barrel off ebay. Incredible isn't it? The last part i got was a complete bolt, with the extractor gear/firing pin, the lot, that the seller had listed as 'm1 garand parts group', then just the part number and a picture of the SA marking, with the words 'sold as is, complete' you couldnt even tell it was a bolt, just a piece of metal with a part number on it. Luckily i knew what it was by that particular number and proceeded to purchase it :p :D Handy for me - yes, i'll admit, but also a little too handy for people up to no good. I've even seen pistol grips taken off for not having 'correct' wording.
