Dates of manufacture
Help... I am looking for a website that has Luger serial #'s and cooresponding manufacture dates. I had found one previously, but I've since lost the link. Any help is appreciated.

Experts please correct me if I am wrong -- If I remembered right, almost all German military P08 have date or "date code" stamped on chamber...... except early DWM and some Simon.
==== And it's impossible having a website, just by typing in, e.g. 1234, could tell you the year. The s/n recycles every year. If there is such a website, the gun must not be Lugers. |
no, sorry, only military have dates on them. Some police do, many do not, all commercial don't have dates.
Will, you have to know what era and manufacturer your luger is to nail it down. full serial number to include suffix all proofs and acceptance markings Ed |
Ed,
There's always the exceptions, Mauser commercial banners 1936 - 1942 have dates. Tracy |
Thanks for the replies, I have a BYF 41. The site I mentioned was a chart that you could scroll through. As an example I have a BYF 41 with a serial # starting with a cursive O. On this site you could go to the make and model and find that the O series BYF 41's were produced in (blank) month. Any updates would be appreciated.

Hello Wil, chances are pretty good your O-Block, 41 byf was finished in February 1941. Please provide the complete serial number and I will confirm it for you!

as I don't know of any luger sites that have this "feature", even then it is an educated guess (although for Frank, his educated guess is pretty darn close) ;) Ed |
Tac, thought all old farts where still writing like that? ..or I'm I the only one? ;)
