Leather Trommel Magazin holder
Good day to you all,
I'm new to collecting all things Luger Artillery and have picked up the leather version of the Luger Trommel Magazin holder that has one buckle strap through the lid and another underneath. I've found photos from WW1 showing German soldiers wearing the canvas bag holder but nothing showing how they wore this leather one. Can any of you guys share some photos with me so I can get a feel for how it was worn / carried? Thank you and best wishes, Michael |
Michael
The concensus is there never was a leather Trommel holder. The ones I have seen were all repros of a non-existent item. Will be interesting to see the other answers you receive. Welcome to the forum. Bill |
Michael,
I agree 100% with Bill. christian |
Michael, welcome to the Lugerforum. Unfortuantely I must concur with my dear friends that your leather cover, while functional, is not a genuine item... it is a reproduction of a fictional accessory. Sorry.

Reproduction doesn't seem to apply. A reproduction is a copy of an original item. I have not seen any evidence that this cover was ever an "original" Imperial era issue item. Bill's term "non-existent" is accurate. At best, it was an after-market commercial item from the 1920s offered by Pacific Arms and/or other distributors. They have been around for a long time, but not prior to or during WWI.
