S/42 Ser number stamp
I'm wondering if somone else has seen this before, with the ser numbers stamped upside down on the take down lever ???
http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/pix565080531.jpg I have worked with a few S/42's and have never seen this before thanks Jim |
Jim,
Looks like a Monday morning "Ah.. Crap!" to me. I've never seen it before, but been there, done that. Ron |
Jim,
Can you take a better photo in clearer focus of the takedown lever? When magified it blurrs out due to pixelization... I can't tell if it is an overstamp or not. The font, though upside down, does look like it is the correct one compared to the other numbers shown in your original photo. |
Upside Down = $ ?
I remember an AirMail Stamp with the plane upside down..........
Is this like that = $$$$ |
I don't know what it means, but the 3's on the takedown and sideplate have rounded tops. All the others have flat tops.

Maybe armorers field replacements? Not necessarily monday piece? That`s why a different kind of a number stamp? And upside down? The size is the same anyway.

John,
I dont have the gun, its listed on GB and I was thinking about a bid, but the upside down stamp has me concern. I was just checking to see if anyone else has seen one before. thanks for all the imput, I think I will pass on this one too suspect for me Jim |
I'm with Mike C., the TD and sideplate have round topped 3s while the rest have flat tops with serif. I think they are replaced.

TAC! You would buy anything that shoots! if you could...and I wouldn't blame you.
|
It will be loved and cared for.
Anytime you want it, it will be ready with a nice fresh box of ammo or two. Helping to keep tac's sanity. Larry P.S. I will make sure to say nort to SHE, and make sure my SHE do not rat you out either. See you in a couple months. |
