byf 42 "m" Block Portuguese
Can you tell me if the "m" block byf 42's command any premium in value over the standard byf 42's? As a follow-up, are they worth less because they did not see service in the German military?
Thanks |
Hi John,
I'm really not the guy to be answering your question but, it's my understanding that due to the scarcity of Portugese byf 42s. They do bring a premium over German Military byf 42s. I'm not certain by how much. They seem to be sought after by Mauser Luger collectors. Ron |
John, These were standard BYF PO8s, so even though given to Portugal, unless thay have some Portugese proofing (quite ofter rebarrel over the years) and with a nice M43 Portugese holster, I doubt that they would sell for any more that a compartable condition earlier German military BYF. Also remember that about half of the M & N suffix 42s were sent to Bulgaria. TH

... and some were also phosphate (parkerized) finish rather than blued if I remember correctly.

Well, you've answered my question. Thanks very much for each of the responses.
