Ersatz 1900 AE
Simpson strikes again!
|
The nickle is a sad thing, but why are they calling a 1906 a 1900?
|
In regard to the plating, I find it preferable to rebluing in a refinished gun. Notwithstanding potential hydrogen embrittlement of plated steel, nickel acts as a sacrificial element in absorbing surface wear, allowing for a less strenuous and more authentic restoration. Of course, these advantages do not apply to a buffed gun.
As to the absurd nomenclature, your guess is as good as mine. |
Ron, this may be another example of Simpson's back sliding!
