My new Luger !! Opinions please.

Okay, so I bought it - just wondered what you guys think of the rig.

I think I did good - not exactly sure how you tell if the mags and holster are matching, perhaps you can help me?

And then, of course, the $64,000 question, "What do you think it is worth?" (I paid around $1500 for it). By the way, I am in Florida (Tampa).

thanks in advance for your help!

thanks in advance guys!

The number on the tool appears to be the same number that is on the gun!

Contender:

You did very well on the rig. The mags are right, unnumbered plastic for a BYF 42. Holster is a big plus. Overall great deal.

That is an amazing rig for the price, you did great!
Anyone know what manufacturer the GWW code is referring to by the way, not here in StillsTRL

Contender, I agree - nice looking rig -- CONGRATS

Went, I think the Ordnance Code is CWW, not GWW. If so, the manufacturer is Karl Weiss, Lederwarenfabrik, Braunchweig.

Very nice rig! Seems 100% correct to me from the pics! Congrats!

Marc, A very respectable and complete rig! Yes, The holster is quite nice, original and correct. An unusual P08 ink stam on the inside top. Do you have a photo of the back?

Very nice, clean rig. As mentioned, you really did quite well on the price.

Good luck

You can clean the dirt out of the grip checkering with warm soapy water and soft toothbrush. Don't use anything harsh on them, and I don't recommend using the 60+ year old bakelite grips worth in excess of $300 for shooting. They are brittle and can crack on you. If you plan on shooting this collectible, (NOT recommended if you want to retain the value), get some modern reproduction grips...

Nice purchase! ...and Welcome to the Lugerforum!

Contender 06-23-2008 01:51 PM

thanks everyone and....

....thanks for the specific feedback on the grips John.

I am thrilled with the gun, and I am NOT interested in shooting it. I will try to clean it as you suggested though.

Now if only that gun could talk and tell us about its past......

Keep in mind to carefully REMOVE the grips from the pistol, THEN scrub with a toothbrush and soapy water. (seems obvious, but just thought I would clarify). 8^)

Contender 06-23-2008 03:29 PM

Actually...

...I am glad you clarified it !

Wow! Very, very nice "Black widow" Luger. It is worth about twice what you paid. Congrats.
