Replacement grips.
 

I was looking for some replacement grips for some of my shooters. Is anyone framiliar with the firm Vintage gun grips. Basically hows the quality and how much 'Fitting" is required. It seemed like a one stop shop for many of the guns, if they are all right. Thanks.

The last time I looked, the firm of Brownell's which services the gunsmith trade, carried this brand of grips... and they don't carry any junk. They stand behind what they sell. I used to have a photo of the Vintage brand Luger replacement grips and they looked pretty good... but I can no longer locate the photo.

I've had three sets of Vintage Gun Grips. The quality was poor. The two sets in ivory color had air bubbles in the checking. The set of black ones looked good, but the left grip was so thick, the grip screw couldn't reach the threads in the frame. Out of the six grips, only one of them fit on the gun without surgery, and all of them ended up in the trash. It's too bad. They are more of a hard rubber than plastic. I would have liked to put a pair on my gun, but it became more trouble than it was worth. By the way, their Swiss grips are actually for the Interarms Mauser. The cut out for the safety is too small for an original Swiss model 1929.

I suspect that grips of a simpler design, specifically with flat backs, might not have these problems. But I'd avoid the colors and stick to black.

As we all should know by now, not all luger grips are interchangeable, including repros, so I would expect to do some fitting. If the grips are undersize, which I've found on their Oritgies grips and a few others, Vintage will certainly give you a refund or exchange, if not happy. TH PS: Whether you order repro grips from GPC, Sarco, 3K, etc. you will be getting Vintage Grips.

If I were to do it again, I would order two or three sets at the same time (they are not expensive), keep the best fitting pair, and try to send back the others. If you have an Interarms Swiss pattern Mauser, they are about your only option, other than custom made.

Fazer, Try Nills-Grips in Germany. I bought 2 pair from Hugh last year and both fit with no modifications to a '16 DWM and a '37 S/42. Good luck, Mark.

I've put Nill grips on my P210, S&W 41 and 686. They are nice. Pricey, but they all fit like they had been custom fitted. Too bad they don't make them for the Interarms Lugers.
