Erfurt Shopping
Hi guys! In the little research I have done, it seems the Erfurts have the rougher finish in the Weimar era, as do the Spreewerks in the P38 field? Is that true? I've been looking for a shooter WWI Luger, but a nice one.....not too perfect to be afraid to shoot it, but matched and correct. Seems the Erfurts might fit my criteria and pocketbook. Can anyone be kind enough to give me just a couple tips on what to look for and look out for? I'ld rather do some research prior to buying!
Thank in advance, Dave |
Hi,
The Erfurts were no longer made in the Weimar era, although some were reworked. Since it's the rarer gun, compared to the DWM, a rough Erfurt can be more expensive than a better looking DWM. Your best bet is to go for a mostly matching or a reblued WW1 DWM. |
Thank you, Gvan. I appreciate the advise very much. Evidently I am more stupid than originally thought as I thought the Weimar era was WWI :o . Sorry about that.
I am interested in getting an Erfurt because they just seem more attractive to me than the more plentiful and well-known DWM. I like the Spreewerk P38's over the Walthers for the same odd reason. I'll just look for a matched one with an original finish. Thank you! Dave:bigbye: |
