How to clean and oil/grease a Luger?
I just got my first Luger and I want to know what parts to oil or grease. I also want to know what grease and oil brand /type is recommended.
I found some field strip videos on youtube. That takes care of the stripping. |
bchamorro,
welcome to the Lugerforum I believe that you may be our only member from your country. Grease is not really required for lubrication of a Luger pistol, but some use it on the slide grooves and where the toggle knobs strike the ears of the frame. Keep your Luger clean, and I personally use a lubricant called Breakfree. It does a very good job of lubrication. Lightly lubricate all parts. Do not let oil get on your grips however... keep your grips oil free. What type of Luger do you own? |
Thanks a lot for the info, John.
I own a 1911 Erfurt Luger. I recently bought it from a retired Nicaraguan grmy general. I wonder how he got his hands on a Luger? Lugers are not very common in Central America and specially Nicaragua. I've always wanted to own on and I think he gave me my only opportunity. He told me he also has a Luger from 1936 (didn't mention the manufacturer), but it has a lot of use. I might still buy it from him because these are the only Lugers I will be able to own (unless I buy one out of the country, which would be a hassle). I believe you already saw my Luger thread :D Thanks |
