broken breech block

I messed up mu luger when I think I had a .380 round in the mag when I ran a few shots. The firing pin moved backward with enough force to break the block at the rear where the pin spring is retained. I thought it is an area where I might be able to braise a small lip to retain the pin without danger of losing the heat treat. My luger is a 1915 Erfurt. It has a hand stamp on the front of the grip... HP 1.4.36. It is a shooter and was a good one. Maybe someone there has a spare block. I certainly hope so. I will miss my luger. I carry it sometimes when I hunt feral hogs.

Tony

The breach block can be repaired and/ or replaced with another one.
I am not sure what is going to be cheaper.
There are a couple of members who should reply soon to help you.

You could also get one on one of the auctions and do it yourself, but I do recommend going through a forum member if you can.

If your gun is all matching you might want to have it repaired.

Good Luck!

Tony,

Welcome to the Forum.

Your unit mark is an unusual one, any chance you can post a photo?

I don't think it is a unit mark. I think is is the initials and date of the person that had it. Possibly a Brown Shirt or ?

Hi Tony,

No, not some one's initials. It is a Weimar police unit mark.

An excellent thread posted by Dwight on the HP mark.

I stand corrected!!!!! I will send a photo when I figure out how. I need to do this when I get back from a reunion next week. My memory is not worth a tinker's damn any more. I also have CRS. I leave Thursday and will be off line until Wednesday. I should have been on this forum years ago. Thanks to the gentleman on the manufacture's forum that sent me here.

tew45,

Welcome to the Lugerforum. You can get a replacement breechblock for your Luger. Contact Lugerdoc (Tom Heller) in the Repairs forum... it would be much safer than a repaired breechblock.

Lugerdoc 05-21-2008 11:11 AM

Tony, I do have standard PO8 breech blocks available from $75 to $150 for an unissued one. I also have M1900 BBs starting @$100, if that's what you need. Please advise the date on the chamber and toggle code in order to obtain the correct one, and probably the best fit, for your luger. TH

I have photo's ready to send and will post after Memorial day or tonight if I have time. I don't know if the weapon is worth much since the toggle link breech block has the only matching numbers and do not match anything else.

Should I admit I broke my breechblock last night... :(

Steinar 05-22-2008 01:50 AM

Did the same last autumn.. :( A piece of the 'top', where the extractor slot is, broke off. Still function, but would it make it unsafe to use?
