Side plate serial number
OK, inquiring minds or mind wants to know. I have a total mixed numbered shooter with the side plate numbered on the underside of the tang. I have never seen one stamped in this fashion. Can anyone shed any light on what variation of Luger this side plate might have come off of?

Mike, I have seen a number in this location on Erfurt (imperial proofed) side plates, but they usually also have the standard placement serials on the outside. TH

Tom,
For what it is worth, the frame serial is also number "11" no suffix. The trigger and safety are also stamped "11". I apologize for the picture quality. My "good" camera battery was dead, so I used a subsitute. Mike http://forum.lugerforum.com/lfupload/shooter_001.jpg |
Mike, Judging from the uneven serial number placement on the frame, I would guess that this luger has been reworked and renumbered at some point in its life. TH
