Interesting Arti

Need to know more about this Luger, would you guys be so kind to tell me all that could possibly be concluded from these pics. I know it is not a lot. To me it looks like refinished and "improved" looking arti. Maybe buffed a bit.

I may have a chance to see it first hand for appraisal.

Thanks

definately reblued. If they are asking a shooter price than it would be okay, but not as a collectable gun.

The pics are a little too dark to really tell for sure, but I think that Ed hit it right.
(1) the right hand side of the tang sight looks good. Nice and flat with sharp serial number.

(2) the left most part of the British marks under the barrel look like they have been buffed

(3) the inside of the right rabbit ears look like there is a depression there that would suggest that that area has been buffed.

(4) the right hand proof marks COULD BE ok.

These are just possibilities. Hard to really tell without the pictures being made lighter. MORE and better pictures are necessary. So don't hold my feet to the fire. The gun could have been spot redone.

OK,

Here it goes:
-Reblue: Yes, the gun got a salt dip reblue, which is much darker and a bit glossier than the original blue. The sharp edges and the texture the gun originally had have been lost by the preparations needed for the reblue.
-As Norm said: The gun has been reproofed in the UK and it looks like this was done before it was reblued.
-The strawing: Not complete and way too bright gold to be original. Note that the takedown lever and magazine catch are now blue, should be strawed. Also: The grip screws should be fire blued, not strawed.
-The grips: Well, eh, 'pimp versions'.
-So basically someone did his best to make this gun prettier, although I wouldn't call it a restoration job. But combined with a decent set of wooden grips, a touch up of the few pieces that were not correctly finished and the addition of a nice stock this gun would make a nice shooter artillery, but never a collectible one.
