Value of this German Luger
 

Can anyone tell me what they think this is worth? I don't see any import marks, the wood grips are in great condition, functions fine, no pitting or rust, blue is original (as far as I can tell), made in 1916. It is not all matching though, the magazine and lower frame are different than the rest of the gun.

Welcome to the forum.

Although original, if you are in the USA (your location is blank), its condition would warrant a value of about $450-$600, its condition is a bit 'rough"and the mismatched parts make it a shooter...

Jason, Ed is correct on value. Interesting parts pistol. The bottom half is made by Mauser. It also has what looks like a Swiss or late Post War Mauser takedown lever.
Does the pistol fire? Have you shot it?

I would be interested to see the magazine body and bottom.

Thanks everyone. I paid $500 for it from a buddy of mine. I wish it was a WWII era, but I won't be picky!

No, I haven't shot it yet. I want to check it over a little better before I do that.

One more question for you guys. I remember reading where Germany changed colors of their holster from brown to black in 1916. If I was going to be real picky, would I go with a brown or black to best match this gun?

Brown or Black would be suitable... You find both from the WW2 era.
IMHO the price was acceptable for this shooter...

Both the sideplate and the takedown lever are Swiss ... the toggle is WW1, and the frame, as you have been told is Mauser or WW2...

It should shoot fine... and with the exception of the Swiss parts, it could very well have been used in WW2 just as it is. Lots of WW1 pistols were recycled for use during WW2. The sideplate and takedown lever were probably replaced recently...
