Heres my discription of what I beleive may be a 1916DWM Imperial....
DWM stamped on top, Gesichert and Geladen both, DWM monogram on first toggle link and on V site end of toggle. Serial number 4**8/*8 on side plate, locking bolt, extractor, ect ect. Behind DWM on toggle, under barrel with a "k". Inside one wooden grip. The clips are not matching, are wooden stamped 4297 2/+. the proof stamps are German military receiver proof. 3 crowns and a eagle. The Front site in NOT brass. Leading me to believe it is not a commeral.. anywhooo. Suggests, comment and all that good stuff is greatly welcome.. Mike |
Mike, welcome to the forum. A 1916 would be a military DWM and not a commercial (only military were numbered) in WW1.
I will move this part of the thread to a new thread under new collectors in the next day or so. Not sure about the front sight is not brass, no luger sights were brass that I know of. ed |
Period after market, King or Marble sights had a brass top for better sight picture, but no Luger left the factory with one.
