Do you have a "Personal" Luger
 

Seeing no one would want to change a original matching Luger, has anyone turned a mismatched/chrome/nickled/ whatever Luger into their own "Personal" Luger with whatever finish/barrel length/sights/grips/monograms/engraving they wished? Something maybe you wished Luger may have built? I have a quite nice parts, mis-matched 6' Navy with correct repo Navy sights and repo barrel that Hugh made. (I feel that in no way that it could be "faked" into a "real" Navy, though Hugh's work is so nice that someone might pass it off to a "very" unknowing buyer as a Navy even with it's mis- matching and lack of proofs,ect). Seeing that it is really of no collector value than the sum of it's parts, I have been thinking on making it more personal with a engraved monogram,some buffing and a very nice reblue (though I have liked the look of nickle on some pistols, I have yet to see a nice looking nickle/chrome Luger, the stainless ones are not to bad) Any pictures of personal Lugers out there? Yours of some you may have come across? I take buffing out a chamber date would require to much removal of metal for a engraved monogram and stay safe?

â??Personal Lugerâ?� Oh there are plenty of those around. Some are very nice indeed.
I think if I were to do one up I would make it into a carry gun, with some engraving on it for looks. I have always liked the idea of the 7 shot Luger. I have never read if a Luger could be made to shoot the 40Cal S&W round but the 41 AE was a popular conversion for the 9 mm HP at one time and it is now chambered for the 40 Cal. So it might be possible. I am a 45 ACP carry fan so the more powerful round appeals to me.
When I think â??Personalâ?� I think of something being with me for a long time.
Just some thoughts :)

The gov't and the factory took factory dates off and left them blank, so I can't imagine that it would be too much metal being removed. Just have someone do it a little bit at a time.

I had forgot about the MARTZ custom Lugers. One of his in .45 cal would make a very nice personal Luger, but that must take about $5,000 to aquire one now.

I also have a Hugh Clark special with a 6" barrel and repo Navy rear sight from Luger Doc. It wouldn't fool a blind man into thinking it's original. It is such a pleasure on to shoot, I may have to have it reblued so it looks as good as it shoots.

If money were no object, I always felt that the ultimate custom Luger would be one scaled up to take the .357 SIG round. You would have the "LOOK" of the original Luger and it's cartridge, but would have all the advantages of a modern combat round.

The one negative would be that if you shot it a heck of a lot, you would shorten the life of the pistol due to the high pressures it generates.

Bet you would get some cool looking fireballs out the end of it though:D

Thanks Ron . I get it , a short .45 to fit 9mm platform pistols -- hence the luger conversion . for the eccentrics and those never satisfied with a production model .

By the way , were you addressing me as "Kim" or someone else ?
