S&W hand ejectors

I find myself the caretaker of a 32 long S&W hand ejector. I know nothing about these little guns other than I like it. It has 97+% of it's original nickel finish with a 3 1/4" barrel. The cylinders and barrel show some light pitting, but may clean up. Lockup is tight and timing is perfect. Sn # is 262152.
Can anyone shed more light on this pocket pistol for me?
Or at least point me in the right direction.

Hi David,

It's a .32 Hand Ejector Model of 1903 Fifth Change. Produced from 1910 to 1917. From the the SN yours is one of the last to be produced. Final SN was in 1917 at 263,000. They reintroduced it after WWII and it later was designated the Model 31 "J" Frame.

These are neat little revolvers. The two that I have owned over the years were very accurate, even though hard to hold with big hands.

Thanks Ron. These little pocket pistols are about as addictive as Lugers. I haven't been to the range yet, but I hope it's a shooter. Do you know of any web boards that specialize in Hand ejectors, Lemon Squeezers or Savage 1917? Theres also a couple of old pocket Colts,(1903-1908) that followed me home. MAN this could get expensive!!

David, A great site is, " smith-wessonforum.com". It is "the" S&W site with lots of helpful folks. I got interested in old S&W's last year also. They like Lugers are addicting.

Good Luck..........Jesse

David, I love most all things .32. The current .32 S&W Long ammo is pretty anemic from Winchester and leaves a terrible black residue. But the lack of power/pressure will probably be good for the old Smith if you don't handload. It only shoots to point of aim for me fom my 1964 Colt at 15 yards, so I'd expect your older guun to find it a close range proposition too.

It sounds like a real gem. Congrats.

Wow the S&W site won't let me use my Yahoo e-mail address.
Back to square 1.

I would try opening a Google (gmail) account, and see if they will take that. It is a much better email system anyway and allows almost 3 gigabytes of permanent storage...
