Fascinating. This gun is a textbook example of forgery technique which everyone should study. It is particularly revealing of the attempt to recreate halos on the barrel stampings.

My Paratrooper Komrade, your correct! Stevie couldn't be fooled! That pistol is screwed up in too many ways to count! Really bad job on the wooden mag bottom. Like Dwight says, a textbook example.

This thing has been posted on auction forever. The guy sold it to a forum member, who returned it after it was decimated by we band of "experts".

His "post return / re-post" description included "The most hated Luger on the internet." I see now that he has changed it back, and to trying to pass it off as the pure quill again.

Well, a blind man would be glad to see it!!!

Very funny Eric... btw, did you see my posting about where to send your photo for the Rogues Gallery? Send it to: lugerforum@gmail.com I will try to update that page once a week...

Ok you Guys, I tried to study the gun, but I am not sure what I am suppose to look for regarding the forgery mentioned. If I am correct the stamping that is Crown over M is the most give away, but about other mistakes, I am not so sure, maybe someone can give a small list what we should look for please:)

OK, for starters...

1. Take down lever has two sets of different numbers
2. A crude attempt at faking halos was done by removing blue from around bottom barrel stamps
3. C/M allignment on left of reciever is awful
4. The double zero stampings are irregular and inconsistent throughout gun
5. Magazine stamps are laughable as is leather stamps on face of holster
6. A couple of the double 0 stamps appear to be stamped over other digits

And that is a starting list..
