Luger firing pin

I just bought a 1914 DWM 9mm Luger (With matching parts and fine original bluing) which I´d like to fire once in a while

(Say about 50 rounds every month) but I´ve read in a Hanguns

Magazine about using only Winchester FMJ 115g. ammo because

the firing pin can break the primer and damage the gun internal parts. Is this true? Should I replace the original

WWI firing pin with a new 3-groove part so gas from a ruptured primer can harmlessly escape? Would it be safe to keep the original firing pin and use only this ammo.

Thank you.

My gut feeling is shot and enjoy. When I go hunting or to the range, I use reloads in my artilleries and navies. I have never had as problem with the primer being punctured. I don't think that any of my Lugerhead friends have either.

I have received from other members the same advice as that provided by BIG NORM on this subject. But, if you are still worried, you can purchase a "fluted" firing pin from Tom Heller and substitute it for the original when firing your Luger.
