Many of you have been very helpful in evaluating the finish on my byf 42. From your posts, I understand there still may be differing opinions on whether it has been refinished.

I appreciate your collective expertise and , although there may be photo quality issues, I am posting a few more images that may stimulate additional discussion. In addition to the original photo, I am posting a top view, a right side view, and another left side view with the safety off, that may show the slight white scratch from moving the safety lever

FYI, I placed the gun on my newly acquired Umax Astra 3400 scanner bed, covered it with white bond paper and converted the output to JPEG format which I then uploaded.

Thank you all very much for your interest and contributions.

P.S. The main reason I got a Luger is that my father-in-law, before he died, had told me that he missed an opportunity to get one when he was an infantryman in WWI. He served in the 45th Division and was awarded the bronze star and CIB.

Knowing nothing about Lugers when I bought this one, regardless of whether it has been refinished or not, I feel lucky to have gotten a WWII model produced about the same time I was born.

Please forgive me if I screw up the photo post. I am trying to post the URL for four photos posted to aol. Thanks for your patience.
