full auto??

Kinda new to luger,s, I took my 1936 S/42 to the range last week and when i fired it, it went full auto. for two or three rounds. i quit and put it away.
have i lost my mind? or is this possible? or both. Thanks.

Hi,

It's possible. There are a number of reasons why it can go full auto, some easier to fix than others. I'd suggest you have a good luger gunsmith look at it before firing it again.

The challenge is not to get a luger to go full auto. The challenge is to let the luger go semi-auto :)

The disconnector is on the receiver, so I guess it's unlikely being a disconnector problem. It sounds like a sear or sear spring issue.... the sear did not lock the firing pin reliably in the cycling. This gun is dangerous.

A 2nd thought.... if the disconnector stucks, the behavior could go unpredictable. If you push this silverish cylinder bar, it is supposed to go in easily with virtually no resistence:
