Correct grips for a Finish Luger?

What are the correct type of grips to have on a Finish Luger?
wood? plastic?
Thanks

Welcome to the Lugerforum... Originally they had wood grips. Some with a brass disk held in place by two small wood screws where unit identification for the pistol was stamped.

...but I understand that late replacement grips were black plastic or bakelite material that look like byf 41 bakelite grips.... perhaps someone who has access to their Luger reference library may have a more definitive answer. Unfortunately, I do not currently have access to mine.

John is correct. Originally equiped with conventional wood Luger grips with a brass ID disc inletted in the right grip. The discs were removed when the lugers were surplused out and are hard to get and expensive when found. Later replacements were a black plastic as in this photo.

Savary,

If you decide on wood grips, I have a pair of Finnish grips with the disk removed.
