More on Webley
1 Attachment(s)
As long as we're talking about Webleys...
Thought maybe one of you guys might know. Last year I happened to be standing in the right place at the right time in a local gun shop when the owner pulled a Mark IV .38 from under the counter. It was mint, and I mean mint in the real sense of the word, perfect in every way, not the "mint" used by some online auctions to describe what is in reality a 75% gun. Though I have at least one book on Webley, this particular variation is not covered and I find no mention of it anywhere. I did have some prior knowledge of its existence consisting of vague recollections from the 60's. It is the civilian market model made I believe in the 50's with, of all things, a safety behind the hammer and a very good finish. |
Sorry , not much help here .
There were quite a few imported back in the late 1980's . We sold a couple dozen in our store . They turn up on occasion . I have clear recollection of the cross bolt safety as I'd never seen one . Other models and barrel lengths were also imported . Hong Kong I think ? Possibility your's might show a faint import stamp on trigger guard or possibly underside of barrel ? Nice gun . Thanks for sharing . |
