Can anyone explain to me why this particular Luger sideplate sold for over $200? (I have no connection to this part or this sale other than this question).

(and yes, I know that sale of this item violated eBay policy on firearms components, but fortunately their auction police aren't everywhere... and they also aren't the sharpest knives in the drawer when it comes to gun parts... more power to the seller who took this risk IMHO.)

mismatched sideplate, baddddd; matching number sideplate, can at least double or triple the value of a luger to most collectors...

I agree with TAC, he had the Luger with a mismatched sideplate, and by matching the sideplate he upped the value of the Luger by more than the cost of the sideplate.

BTW, I need a DWM side plate #49. I would be willing to pay nearly that much for a nice one.

Okay, I can do this... I am now looking for Luger # 35. It should be missing the side plate... also #17 missing a right grip and # 06 missing 7/8s of the right grip., as well as #91 missing a reblued toggle train.:cheers:
