1920 Double Stamp

Hi.

Hate to bother you gentlemen with another â??whatâ??s it worthâ? question, but Iâ??ve had this â??Double Stampâ? in my safe for about 25 years and have not kept up with the world of Lugers. We are retiring and downsizing which means some things have to go.

Itâ??s certainly not excellent, but the numbers match and the two extra mags look pretty good. Iâ??ve not seen any information anywhere regarding the grip frame inscription PBg.638.

Any help you could give would be appreciated.

(Hope I've done these photos right. Not sure what is meant by changing the url to img to get them to appear in the post.)

Sherlock, welcome to the forum! It is a 1920 (made then) with a property marking of 1920 (seen on earlier dated, 1920 and 1921 lugers). It appears to be army, with no sear safety for a police on it. It also has weimar era eagle / doves on the right.

Looks like a nice one to me. If thinking of trading for something, or selling keep me in mind.

I would guess value would be $900-$1300, all depends on if all matching inside parts, etc;

The extra mags are not weimar era and if unmolested on the base worth $75 - $125 each.

PS: I chnaged the "url" to img and made the photos show.

Sherlok,

The marking on the grip strap is from the Police School at Burg. An earlier mark was ground off, leaving only the remnants of the periods. Is there a lower-case script letter below the serial number on the front of the frame?

Thank you Mr. Tinker for changing my photos. For future reference what changes did you make? I tried several variations.

I will be glad to talk to you about selling my pistol.

Hi Don M,

Thank you for the information. I see the periods from earlier ground off numbers.

There is no script under the serial number at the front of the frame. I was going to take a photo, but have to recharge the camera batteries.

Thanks again,
Bill Holmes
