enhancing a shooter

My father has a P08 which my grandfather brought back from WWII; it's in rather good condition with full numbers matching... Although I could shoot it if I wanted, and I infact have... I'm hesitant to shoot very much simply because I don't want anything to happen to it.

SOOOO, I'm left with this idea...

Buying a cheap, mechanically sound P08, having any work done on it that I could get done to increase reliability and accuracy (feed work, trigger work... so on), then have it refinished with Robar NP3 (http://www.robarguns.com/axcoatings.html)

Any thoughts? Any idea who where I could have this sort of work done? Or for that matter, where I could get a good shooter at? I could careless about finish, so long as it's not severly pitted... numbers matching isn't an issue either.

Thanks!!

Welcome to the Lugerforum.

That is sound judgement on not shooting the all matching family heirloom.

I would check with Hugh Clark (Hugh), Tom Heller (LugerDoc) about the availability of a shooter.

Finish is a personal preference thing....

Thanks... I'll check with them in a few weeks when I'm ready to buy!!
