New Luger for the lists

Well I want to show off my new baby. I started a post in the New Collectors forum asking help on identifiying it. I took a few shots with my cellphone camera until I get it up to Virgina with me. Even though a few people have been very nice on some tips to get it to VA with me on the train, my mom (and yes I am a 33 year-old sergeant in the Army) has asked that I not push any rules to get it back with me and to wait until I drive back down.

I don't know if you can see in this photo where the grip has been sanded off. We can see about 17-tick marks that were on there. My mom said the Birmingham Police in the 30's was not the best bunch in the world.

Thanks for all of the great info I have found on this site and plan to keep hanging out with you all.

Mikec,

You wouldn't be pushing any rules if you go the disassembly route to get it back to VA as I recommended... it is not illegal to carry PART of a gun... ATF considers that the grip frame is the serial numbered part... without any other parts is it totally incapable of firing anything... it is just a part.

The balance of the parts are perfectly legal to be mailed to you, because without the grip frame, they are also just parts...

But you do what you need to do to be comfortable and keep Mom happy.

"If Momma ain't happy, ain't nobody happy!" Ask me how I know!

How do you know John? :)

Because when you make as many mistakes as I do when it comes to figuring out what will please 'Momma' and what won't... I consider myself an expert in knowing what won't. :D Got that? :)

Mikec,
I hope that someone on the forum will try to lighten up your pictures of your trophy. In the mean time, congratulations. May this be the start of a wonderful collection.

Happy shooting!
Big Norm
